(April) Easter egg Appeal - March/April 2011

The Abbey Independent Funeral Directors Ltd once again appealed for donations of Easter eggs for children whose lives are being affected by domestic violence.

These children and their mothers have had to leave their home and move to a refuge for protection, often with very few possessions and a long way from their friends, school and familiar surroundings.

Funeral Director, Nicola Jarmaine said: "If this year's appeal is as successful as our previous one , we will once again be able to hand over a large number of Easter eggs to the children.

"We know how much your donation will be appreciated by these children who are facing such disruption in their lives.

"From experience we know how much the smallest gesture from others can mean to the Children and their mothers."

Donation of Easter eggs were delivered to us at 4 Market Square,
Waltham Abbey.

Please telephone Nicola Jarmaine on 01992 711892 for more details.

Thank you for your support.

(July) Race for Life - Wednesday 13th Jul 2011

Sponsored by Epping Forest District Council's Sports Development team, Epping Forest Race for Life 2011 took place on Wednesday 13th July 2011 at 7pm and for the eighth year running it was held at North Weald Airfield, Hurricane Way, CM16 6AA.

Race For Life is a special event where women and girls complete a 5km or 10km course to raise vital funds towards finding cures for cancer and helping the thousands of people that develop the disease each year.

The race was one of around 280 races being held across the UK and will consist of a single lap of the historic airfield which was lined by an exciting display of aircraft. As the route is mostly on concrete and completely flat it is suitable for wheelchair participants and offers the perfect opportunity to enjoy a fun evening out with family and friends.

The race can be completed in whatever manner participants wish, from a slow walk (with stops if necessary) to a power walk, jog or run and is an ideal chance to meet new friends.

Cancer Research UK is entirely funded by the public and they need your support to continue to make progress and give hope to people affected by cancer.
