Presentation of 'Customer Care' Award 2011

On Wednesday 25th May, the award was presented to the
management team of H L Hawes & Son Ltd - General Manager,
Karl Partridge Dip FD, MBIE, Funeral Director, Richard Hampton and
Administration Manager, Tania Stone, by Business Support Assistant
Andrew Humphrey Dip FD on behalf of Funeral Planning Services.
Over the past business year, Funeral Planning Services, an independent British company specialising in the administration of funeral prepayment plans, believe that H L Hawes & Son Funeral Directors have shown a commitment and determination to offer their clients the
best possible service, including the peace of mind that comes with planning and paying for a funeral in advance with the purchase of a Hawes Funeral Plan and The Abbey Funeral Plan.
The responses received from a Customer Satisfaction Survey carried out in 2010 by Funeral Planning Services demonstrate that clients are very happy with the service they receive from H L Hawes & Son Funeral Directors. In fact, 100% of the responders thought the Hawes Funeral Plan brochure is "clear and informative", were "very satisfied" with the plan and would recommend the plan to someone else in the knowledge that their payments are held securely in trust until required.

In April 2011, H L Hawes & Son Ltd Funeral Directors were pleased to be awarded
a 'Customer Care' Award by Funeral Planning Services Ltd.
Over the past business year, Funeral Planning Services Ltd believe that
H L Hawes & Son Ltd have shown a commitment and determination to offer their clients the best possible service, including the peace of mind that comes with planning and paying for a funeral in advance.
The responses received from a Customer Satisfaction Survey carried out in 2010
by Funeral Planning Services demonstrate that clients are very happy with the service they receive from H L Hawes & Son Ltd Funeral Directors, as follows:
- 100% of the responders thought the Hawes Funeral Plan brochure is "clear and informative"
- 75% had advice regarding plans, either in person or by telephone and, of these, 33% expressed positive comments about the advice
- 100% were "very satisfied" with the plan
- 100% would recommend the plan to someone else.

The London Business Awards 2010 - 'Customer Service Award' - Finalist

On Wednesday 24th November, H L Hawes & Son Ltd Funeral Directors joined other companies who gathered for the event, in association with HSBC Bank, at the Planit, Victoria Embankment Gardens WC2N for a spectacular evening.
Entertainment was provided by former X Factor winner Steve Brookstein and girl band Lola.
Recognised for their understanding of clients' needs and high level of customer service, implemented strategies and policies to maintain and improve their level of customer care, H L Hawes & Son Funeral Directors were listed in the top ten companies for ‘Customer Service'.
Alun Tucker, Managing Director said: "We are very pleased to have been shortlisted out of hundreds of entries for such a prestigious award.
"In 2009 we were winner of ‘Customer Service' at the Thames Gateway Business Awards.

The London Business Awards 2010 - Finalist
H L Hawes & Son Ltd is delighted to announce that they have been shortlisted as one of the finalists in the ‘Customer Service Award' category in the London Business Awards 2010, in association with HSBC Bank.
Managing Director, Alun Tucker, said: "Being nominated a finalist of such a prestigious award is a testament to the hard work of the staff and their dedication to meet the needs of our clients."
The awards are organised by Archant and will be taking place on Wednesday 24th November at Planit, Embankment Gardens WC2.
The Thames Gateway Business Awards 2009 - 'Customer Service Award' - Winner

The 12th annual Archant London, Thames Gateway Business Awards sponsored by HSBC provide an opportunity for more than 40,000 businesses throughout East London, Essex and Kent to endorse their brand and gain recognition for their continued hard work and unwavering determination to persevere. Considering the tough trading conditions that small and medium sized businesses faced during this difficult economic climate, a record number of entries were received from all manner of local businesses and the abundance of entries in the 15 categories was overwhelming.
H L Hawes & Son Ltd Funeral Directors had cause to celebrate by winning the prestigious Customer Service Award sponsored by Chartered Accountants Haslers, on Friday 6th November 2009.
As winner of ‘Customer Service', not only did H L Hawes & Son Ltd walk away with the accolade of being amongst some of the best businesses in the area, but also a six-month marketing and advertising package with Archant London and a complimentary financial Health Check courtesy of Chartered Accountants Haslers.

Hosted by BBC Journalist, Louisa Preston and radio presenter David ‘Kid' Jensen, with guest speaker, Jim Fitzpatrick, Minister of State at DEFRA, the glittering event was held at the art deco inspired Troxy, East London.

The evening culminated with a live performance from British soul sensation Kenny Thomas and legendary soul DJ Greg Edwards rounded up the night with a live set, getting everybody on their feet and in the celebratory mood.
The Thames Gateway Business Awards 2009 - 'Outstanding Young Persons Awards' - Finalist

Brett Mann's interest in a possible life-long career in funerals began in 2006, aged 15, when he successfully completed a two-week 'work experience' placement at H L Hawes & Son Ltd Funeral Directors.
Keen to learn more about the opportunities and career progression offered by the profession, Brett contacted the company again just after sitting his GCSE's to enquiry about possible employment.
Because of his maturity and enthusiasm previously shown, Brett was offered a three-month casual contract and on the 15th October 2007, aged 16; he joined the company full-time as a Funeral Operative.
Upon joining H L Hawes & Son Ltd, Brett was set and has duly completed a programme of 'in-house' training that included: Health & Safety in the work place, Rights & Responsibilities of Employer & Employee, Basic Risk Assessment, Lifting, Manual Handling and Storage, Basic office and funeral arranging, Flu Pandemic procedure, Cultural and Religious needs and traditions, Coffin and Casket range, Ashes Urn and Ashes Casket range.
Brett's greatest achievement to date is when he carried out arrangements for his friend's Grandfather's funeral.
Working within a small independently owned funeral business that employs 16 people with the average age being 48, Brett's youthful outlook on life together with his mature dedication to his role as Funeral Operative, has had a very positive impact upon the business, and earned him the respect of his peers.
The funeral profession is an extremely rewarding profession and one that Brett has been able to apply and share his academic skills, and innovative ideas with management and colleagues within the workplace.
His enthusiasm to learn new workplace skills from his colleagues since joining H L Hawes & Son Ltd in 2007 has helped restore belief that in today's Society, younger people can still care and have respect for other people and their own future within the Community.
The Thames Gateway Business Awards 2008 - 'Customer Service Award' - Highly Commended

Archant London and principal sponsor, NatWest celebrated its
11th annual Thames Gateway Business Awards on
Friday 21st November 2008 in support of local business communities throughout East London, Essex and Kent.
Hosted by popular celebrity chef and Saturday Kitchen presenter,
James Martin, the glittering gala evening at the ExCeL Platinum Suite was attended by nearly 600 guests'; lending their support with the Grand Charity Prize Draw to raise funds for London's disadvantaged children through the charity, Help A London Child.
The caliber of entries in the sixteen categories from businesses and individuals was extremely high and H L Hawes & Son Ltd Funeral Directors, Essex and East London were delighted to be commended in the
'Customer Service' category sponsored by London City Airport.
Alun Tucker, Managing Director said, "We believe that it is our carefully developed skills in customer care, key principle to attention to detail, training programme, free Bereavement Aftercare & Support Groups and educational seminars offered to other professionals, that were recognised by the category judges."
