The Abbey Independent Funeral Directors Ltd (owned by H L Hawes & Son Ltd of Barkingside, established 1847) opened in the Market Square, Waltham Abbey in December 2007.

The day-to-day management of the business is the responsibility of Funeral Director, Nicola Jarmaine, who will be pleased to meet with you to discuss your requirements.

A funeral is one of life's most personal events and we understand how important it is for each family to discuss, plan and agree upon the funeral service.

Our involvement and support begins the moment the bereaved family contacts us and continues beyond the day of the funeral.

We pride ourselves on our high standard of deceased care and genuine understanding of our clients' individual and cultural needs. 

Our bespoke services include: Green Funerals, 'Fair Trade' accredited environmentally-friendly product range, Monumental Masonry, The Abbey Pre-payment Funeral Plans and Bereavement Aftercare; as well as a full range of other services.

Always ensuring that we listen to their particular needs and circumstances, we treat every funeral individually and aim to provide family and friends with a meaningful and memorable day.

The Abbey Independent Funeral Directors Ltd is a member of The National Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF).

We are recommended by The Natural Death Centre; a social entrepreneurial, educational charity that gives advice on all aspects of dying, bereavement and consumer rights in this area.
